Introducing Urbani: Tirana's First Public Transportation Brand Identity
Urbani represents a groundbreaking initiative to redefine public transportation in Tirana, Albania.
Before this project, public transport in Tirana lacked a brand identity and a unified signage system.
To address these challenges, rebranding Tirana's public transport necessitated a fresh perspective and a strategic approach to creating a meaningful visual identity. Above all, it demanded our soulful commitment, for this wasn't merely about a project—it was about the city we live.
The brand identity and visual navigation infrastructure we created would improve the overall experience of public transport users and enhancing the city's image.
We came up with the name URBANI as a name with a duality: it represents the past and the future, the local and the international.
The past and the local because, people in Albania have been referring to the bus as “urbani”.
The international and the future because it makes sense in an international linguistic context and conveys the sense of present urban development and the context of the city. Tirana is the main urban center of Albania.
Drawing inspiration from Tirana’s vibrant culture and urban landscape, the logo and visual identity were created with signage, bus stops, timetables and, most notably, the bus route map designed following guidelines used in large developed cities.
